Camlock locks protect eyewear that protects eyes

To minimize theft at the point of sale, Polaroid chose camlock locks.

Polaroid Eyewear asked to supply sunglasses displays for the Russian market. the developed a range of display units includes wall displays, freestanding rotating displays and smaller static units. A shackle for each pair of sunglasses drops down and when locked the sunglasses can only be removed by a member of staff.

Each panel holds 18 pairs of sunglasses and the same number of shackles. All shackles on each panel are secured by one lock. The rotating display comes with a lockable cupboard below the display unit.

Camlock has provided the Series 31 to lock these display units. With its 10 disc tumbler mechanism and up to 5,000 available key combinations, the lock offers excellent security at a competitive price. We specified the lock to be keyed alike, which means that all locks in a set have the same key combination. Where all locks in one set are made to different key combinations, a master key that operates all locks is optional. The strong keys are easy to insert due to the reversible double-sided design.

We've opted for the lock to have a 90° key movement that holds the key trapped in the unlocked position, to help ensure retail staff secure the units after use. The lock incorporates a positive-click index locking/unlocking action. This prevents the locking cam from falling back under its own weight.

The lock fits a standard 19mm x 16mm double ‘D’ hole piercing. It is manufactured from die-cast zinc alloy and a bright chrome plate finish gives it a durable and attractive finish.
