How to install and remove the Livelock series 2926

Generally an assembly of the 2926 series looks like this:

As you can see in the drawing above, in the 2926 series there is:
A: Stud                 2926S63-##BP
B: Grommet          2926GL14-*BP
C: Washer             2926W14
D: Retaining ring    2926RN14
E: Receptacle         2926R63-04BP

In order to properly install all these parts, these are the tools that are required:

2926HT01-1AY (has spare parts for the tension bolt 2925HT-04-2AY and the swaging pin 2925SP14-01AY)

2926HT10-01BP

In order to remove these in the correct way, you need the following tools:

2926RT01-1AY  (also has spare parts for the counterbearing 2925RT14-06-2AY and the swaging pin 2925SP14-01AY)

CA18157-T10

There is also a verification tool to see if the locking feature is functioning properly:

2926H11-01AY

Before installing these parts, make sure the panels are prepared with the correct dimensions.

There are two ways to prepare the panels, either with a gasket or with a countersunk panel:

Installation:

  • Installing the receptacle on the bottom panel (=substructure) is done with rivets.
  • Installing the Grommet:

Insert the swaging pin with grommet into the properly perpared hole of the panel.

Place the washer on the swaging collar of the grommet and engage the tools thread 2926HT01-1AY to the swaging pin 2925SP14-01AY.

Screw it in until it is fully egaged, check that the washer is not clamped between the grommet and the swaging bushing.

The required swaging force is 3000 to 5000 Newton (torque is 3.7-6.0 Nm)

After removing the tool 2926HT01-1AY and the swaging pin 2925SP14-01AY, visually check if the swaged grommet collar is fully flat.

If it's not the case, repeat swaging operation with a preset torque of 4.0 Nm. After the torque wrench has reached the torque limit, add a quarter rotation to fully flatten the swaging collar.

After installation:

  • Final step: installing the stud in the grommet

This process uses the tool 2926HT10-01BP

1: Insert one tap of the retaining ring into a flute of the stud

2: Fit the second tap of the retaining ring in the sparing on top of the installation tool and prop it up against the stud

3: Get the tap in line with the flute and clip the retaining ring on the stud

4: Remove the installation tool from the stud

Removal:

  • To remove the retaining ring from the stud use a pair of cutting pliers to hold the retaining ring with one and cut it through with the second one. Now the stud can be safely removed.
  • Remove the grommet:

In order to remove the grommet, tool 2926RT01-1AY is required:

1: Insert the swaging pin through the counterbearing into the grommet

2: Hold the swaging pin and mate the tool's screw with the internal thread of the swaging pin by turning the tool at the knurled head in clockwise direction until the thread is fully engaged and stops

3: Hold either the knurled head or the swaging pin firmly and turn the T-handle in clockwise direction to push the collar of the swaged grommet fully through the washer adn the panel into the counterbearing.

4: Bring the tool back into startin condition by turning the T-handle in counterclockwise direction until it meets the knurled head, then unscrew the tool from the swaging pin.

The separated grommet and washer can easily be removed now.

  • Last step: remove receptacle

This is done with the tool CA18157-T10.

The tool is used as a barrel removal tool:

1: Insert tool between cage and receptacle stradddling one lug (shown in picture below)

2: Apply downward pressure on tool to snap receptacle out of cage
