If you use a standard rivet, your total thickness will be higher as the rivet does not sit countersunk and adds thickness to the total assembly.
The length number of your stud will be wrong, also panels will not completely sit flush on each other.

For the assembly to be correct, you need to countersunk the hole so that the head of the rivet sits flush with the surface of the panel.
