Can the V15R13-1-1AB receptacle be installed in sheet metal with thickness less than 2mm ?

Yes, the receptacle V15R13-1-1AB can be installed in sheet metal with a thickness less than 2mm. Dimpled panel installation is required for this.   After deforming the sheet metal, the top diameter of the hole needs to be 17 mm while the smallest diameter will be 12,3mm. To achieve this, the hole that needs be drilled (before deforming the sheet metal) to 10,3mm or 13/32" .

  If the hole has been drilled (diameter 10,3mm) and deformed (100°) correctly, there will be a gap of 0,5mm between the top of the receptacle and the top of the panel where it has been installed to.   To install the receptacle V15R13-1-1AB in panels with a thickness between 2 mm and 12 mm the most convenient method is the drilled panel installation.   Threaded installation of the receptacle V15R13-1-1AB If the panel thickness is more than 12mm or you cannot reach the backside of the panel, than the threaded installation of the V15R13-1-1AB receptacle is your solution. What do you need for this?
  • a 11mm tap drill to prepare the hole
  • a tap to cut the metric M12x1 thread
  • some thread-locking fluid
After drilling the hole with the 11mm tap drill you need to degrease and clean the hole. Then you apply some thread-locking fluid to the receptacle. Now you can screw in the receptacle in the freshly tapped hole. The function of the thread-locking fluid is to prevent the receptacle from unscrewing caused by vibration.
